Challenge Rules (Please Read Carefully)

1. Open to all but must be the work of the person or group applying to the challenge. Limit of (one) 1 entry per person or group. Family members/permanent employees of show management or sponsors are not eligible. Quilts must be constructed and quilted by the person(s) named on the entry form.
 
2. Quilts only. Entry must be quilted by hand, sewing machine, or longarm machine.  No kits or tied quilts. Quilts must be 24 inches by 24 inches.
 
3. Entries can be original design or from a pattern. If a pattern is used, the name must be disclosed on the entry form. 
 
4. An Artist Statement is required with quilt entry in this challenge. 
 
5. Entries must have been finished in 2024 or 2025 and be in excellent condition.
 
6. Entry must have a 4” sleeve casing attached to the top back of the quilt, about ½” from the top and outside edges.  Entry must also have a cloth label with the name, address, and telephone number of the entrant securely sewn to the back.
 
7. Ship the entry in a secure carton. Place the item in a sturdy plastic bag. Do not use packing pellets/peanuts of any type. The cost of return shipping and insurance in return transit will be the responsibility of Mancuso Show Management. The original carton will be used to return the item via UPS or another promoter-designated carrier. Please remove all old shipping labels from the carton prior to shipping.
 
8. Entries must be available for display at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, September 11-14, 2025, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Oaks, PA and at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, February 26 – March 1, 2026, at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, Hampton, VA. Quilts will remain in Mancuso Show Management’s possession between the two shows and will be returned following the conclusion of the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in early March. 
 
9. Images of accepted quilts become the property of PNQE for publicity and/or publication use.
 
10. Filing of your signed application signifies agreement with these conditions.
 
11. This is a National Challenge and is open only to residents of the United States.
 
12. No damages from either Party shall be due for a failure of performance due to Acts of God, war, terrorist act, riots, disaster or strikes, any one of which, to the extent, making performance impossible. Moreover, it will be considered a Force Majeure event if, within sixty days in advance of the scheduled event, the World Health Organization declares a pandemic, as the World Health Organization defines that term (or a previous such declaration remains in place), and as a result a government entity imposes a travel ban, or attendance ban for the location of the event that has the effect of prohibiting Show Management to present the event. In the case of a Force Majeure event, the non-performing party may terminate this Agreement, without liability, upon written notification.
 
13. The entrant indemnifies and agrees to hold harmless the show’s management and the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Hampton Roads Convention Center and their officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any actions, losses, costs, damages, claims and expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from any damage to property.
