Star Fusion, Half Day
Saturday, 9/20/2014 - 9/20/2014, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Get your stars to glow by combining several seemingly unrelated techniques and the half-rectangle ruler set from Bloc Loc. You’ll learn how to mix the techniques into a gorgeous, exploding star that can be personalized in many ways while adding to your quilter’s toolbox of tricks. Ruler set is available from the vendor booth prior to class at a 25% discount for students. Advanced level. Materials List: Please visit www.blocloc.com under classes tab for instructions to pre-cut an itemized list of fabrics for the star and string sets to cut and sew prior to class. The multi-sized pattern, class handout and kit is free with attendance. You’ll need to bring a sewing machine in good working order with a 1/4” foot and an open toe foot, rotary cutter, small mat and scissors, small ruler such as a 6” x 12”, mechanical pencil or Frixion pen, thread in a neutral color, and travel iron if possible. Itemized fabric list (from the website:, www.blocloc.com): Background fabric: (4) 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” squares and (4) 3” x 6” rectangles. Star center: (1) 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” square. Outer triangles: (4) 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” squares. Back of star (string sets): 5-10 colors (this is that “more is more” situation) all different widths ranging from 7/8” to 2” wide x width of fabric. All strings should be approximately the same length. Front of star: (8) 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares (this is where you use your brightest, most intense, wonderful fabric of them all). It’s a good idea to label the pre-cut pieces (except for string sets which are sewn) and if you can bring a little extra of your chosen fabric that may be helpful to you in class. Please remember that all students can use their 25% discount in the vendor booth for any Block Loc product - yea! Sewing machine required.
