Esterita Austin Port Jefferson Station, New York International award winning quilt maker, designer and teacher, Esterita Austin is best known for her portraiture and stone series as well as her mono printing techniques. Her quilt “The Well” was a prize winning piece in the American Museum of Folk Art’s international competition. Her work has been published in numerous periodicals and books. One of her international venues is a yearly workshop in the hills of Tuscany, which not only features a quilt workshop, but painting and cooking as well. Layering multiple prints creates an original composition that adds depth of field to your work. Anyone, from beginner to advanced, can succeed at this technique. Pow-erful Portraits, Full Day Saturday, 8/17/2013 - 8/17/2013, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Create a dramatic portrait that Rembrandt would envy. Using value effectively is the key to making this face leap off the surface. You will be provided with an 11” x 17” pattern and be taught an easy fusing technique. A demonstration of a few well-placed strokes of paint will put the finishing touches to an expressive portrait. All levels.

Esterita will take you on a photographic journey that begins with taking an expressive photograph discussing lighting, angles and settings through interpreting the image in fabric.
