Sculptured Armchair Flowers, Full Day
Thursday, 5/1/2014 - 5/1/2014, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
In this class students will learn to create and use a variety of 3-D flowers in their work, each sculpted in fabric and using different hand (no machine) sewing construction techniques for petals, leaves and floral centers. They can be used on quilts to add texture, interest and zest - and students will learn to do so. Specifically, they will make various types of flowers and apply them to their own pre-quilted wall hanging background. They can also be used on standalone art pieces and on wearable art. During the class, the student will focus on fabricating realistic daffodils, sunflowers, geraniums and zinnias. All levels. Materials List: Kit fee, $15 payable to instructor, includes instructions, precut fabrics, patterns, cardboard fillers, beads, needles and other miscellany. Students need to bring basic hand sewing supplies: fabric and paper cutting scissors, thread in red, light yellow and orange colors, quilting thread (1 spool) in neutral color, straight pins and table light (optional).
