With over 600 quilts and garments on display, it is no wonder that the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza held September 14-17, 2017 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks (Greater Philadelphia/Valley Forge area), Pennsylvania is called The Center of It All for Quilt, Fiber, Wearable and Textile Art. Included among the exhibits on display is the annual Juried & Judged Quilt Competition highlighting the talent and creativity of regional as well as national quilt artists. Be sure to get a glimpse of this year’s exquisite quilt competition entries; the show is anticipating its best year yet! (Pictured: Emma in the Looking Glass by Lenore Crawford (PNQE 2016.)
The competition theme chosen for the 2017 Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza is Not Fade Away. Quilt entrants, who are vying for over $13,000 in awards and prizes, are asked to respond to, “The art of quilting continues to grow in popularity, but it is up to us to keep it growing and vibrant! How were the skills and love of quilting passed on to you? How will you pass it on so that this art form will Not Fade Away?” Enjoy reading the artists’ statements about their work.
The accepted quilt entries are competing in Traditional, Innovative and Mid-Century Modern Categories and the Wall Quilt Competition. Event attendees can even be part of the judging by voting for their favorite quilt entry to win the prestigious Viewers Choice Award!
