Amazing Works of Quilt Art on Display in Orlando at the 2016 World Quilt Florida
January 7-9, 2016, World Quilt Florida relocates to Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center. Included as always at the event will be the always-popular Florida Quilt Competition. Like a fine art show, the entries to this competition are an impressive showcase of some of Florida’s most talented quilt and textile artists. For those who love anything quilt related, this display of quilt art should not be missed!
The Competition highlights quilt art created by Florida artists who are competing while representing their quilt and textile art communities with a fabulous collection of artwork. Modern Quilter Carole Lyles Shaw Joins the World Quilt Florida Faculty
World Quilt Florida, presented January 7-9, 2016 in Orlando, offers a fantastic, panoramic view of the world’s take on quilting and textile art. The world-renowned faculty presenting workshops at the show can open the doors to a whole new world of quilting with their innovative designs and techniques. Included among the instructors is Florida native Carole Lyles Shaw.
Carole is a modern quilter and teacher who truly loves her job. Since Carole began quilting in 1989, she has taken a modern and creative approach with her art. She enjoys modern quilting’s allowance for individualism and free expression. Teaching gives Carole the opportunity to open quilters’ eyes to the possibilities in creating modern quilts. Carole is a member of the Board of Directors of The Modern Quilt Guild as well the co-founder of the Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild in Florida where she served as President in 2014. In addition to teaching and lecturing from coast to coast, Carole is currently working on publishing patterns of her quilts.

Marjan Kluepfel – Lecture & Workshops at World Quilt Florida: January 7-9, 2016
Included among the World Quilt Florida instructors at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida is Marjan Kluepfel who has a penchant for teaching quilting to those who love the craft as much as she does. Marjan was born and raised in the Netherlands, but has lived in many places – Florida, Hawaii, South Carolina and Australia. Now residing in Northern California, Marjan teaches and exhibits quilts across the globe. Her main artistic influence is nature; most of her designs are organic. Marjan pays close attention to color and texture, “I like to work with color and movement in my pieces. The bright colors I use express my positive outlook on life.” She uses many different surface design techniques such as fabric dyeing, painting, printing, pleating and machine quilting and embroidery.
Marjan will present a lecture, “The Colorful World of a Fabric Dyer & Art Quilter” at 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon and will offer three full day, 9 am to 4 pm, workshops at World Quilt Florida:
