“On Pins & Needles”
For the 2015 Pacific International Quilt Festival
Quilt & Wearable Art Competitions
While shopping the wide variety of vendors in the Merchants Mall and viewing the magnificent special exhibitions at the Pacific International Quilt Festival XXIV held October 15-18, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, quilt and textile enthusiasts won’t want to miss the exceptional international quilt and wearable art competitions.
Quilters from all over the world enter their finest works in the juried and judged competition, competing for more than $25,000 in awards and prizes that will be presented to the winners of the various categories. The competition includes both full-sized and wall quits. In addition, the full-sized quilts are divided into three design categories – Innovative, Traditional and Modern.
This year’s entrants will respond to the theme On Pins & Needles. PIQF asks the artists to respond to, “How do you feel while designing and working on a new quilt? Are you on pins & needles as you wait to see what emerges from your stash of fabrics and threads?” For the Modern Quilt category, the theme will be Mid Century Mod. Entrants are asked to draw on the designs of the mid-20th century. Left: PIQF ’14: Moons Over Bars by Susan Garrity |
