My Desert Experience, Lecture

This evening slide show lecture will delve into Caroline’s years of travel and experiences in Australia’s Red Centre. The Artist-in-Residence for over 10 years at Uluru, you will see her textile journey and the influences in her work. A small quilt trunk show will accompany this lecture with textures and colors of her favorite places in Australia.

Bojagi, the Art of Wrapping Cloths, Lecture

   Saturday, October 18, 4:30 pm

Bojagi, Korean wrapping cloths, are pieced together from small scraps of fabric. It is a very unique form of Korean textile art. Bojagi took an important place in the daily lives of Koreans. Bojagi were used to wrap or carry things from precious ritual objects to common household goods. It is an ancient form of textile art but strikingly contemporary; the designs and colors of bojagi remind one of the works of modern abstract artists. Bojagi can be described as a true form of abstract expressionism. Youngmin Lee will talk about bojagi during this lecture and will show lots of different bojagi that she has made.
